Personal Album Sync is a personal macOS application for copying media from a configured Apple Photos Shared Album to the owner’s Google Photos account.
This description reflects the reviewed application source. The installed application has not been independently checked against that source.
Information accessed and used
The app requests macOS Photos permission, which can cover the Photos library. Its implementation finds the configured Shared Album and reads its photos, videos and technical information needed for copying and tracking transfers.
With Google authorization, it uses the account’s verified email address and account identifier to check the destination account. It uploads media and reads albums and media created by this app. It does not request access to the entire existing Google Photos library.
Transfers and local storage
Exported photo and video files are sent to Google Photos. Embedded metadata is not deliberately stripped, so information contained in those files may also be transferred. Apple Photos may download media from iCloud during export.
The Mac stores temporary media exports, configuration, progress information and a local transfer database. Records can include media identifiers, hashes, destination identifiers, timestamps and errors. Google access and refresh tokens are stored in macOS Keychain. Desktop OAuth client configuration is stored separately in a local configuration file; upload and retry checkpoints may be stored in the transfer database.
Retention and removal
Completed temporary exports become eligible for cleanup after 24 hours, or earlier during storage-reclamation processing. Cleanup runs during app activity and is not a guaranteed deletion deadline. Files awaiting completion may remain for retry. Transfer records do not currently expire automatically.
Stopping the app does not erase its local records or copies already uploaded to Google Photos. Google access can be removed through the Google Account’s third-party access controls. Uploaded copies must be managed separately in Google Photos. Local data and credentials require separate removal; the app does not currently provide a comprehensive erase-data function.
Other services and uses
The reviewed application uses Apple and Google services as needed for these functions. No developer-operated backend or analytics integration was found in the reviewed source.
This website
This website contains no forms, photo uploads, analytics scripts or third-party fonts added by its owner. It is hosted through ChatGPT Sites using hosting infrastructure that may process technical request information, such as IP addresses and browser information, to deliver and secure the site. This policy does not promise that hosting providers keep no logs.
